Obituary of Leon Glovsky

Leon Glovsky, 77, of Vineland passed away at home on October 28, 2014. Leon was born on May 20, 1937 to the late Barney and Sarah (Ajon) Glovsky. He attended Hunter College in Manhattan and received his Masters Degree from Temple University. After moving to Vineland in 1960, he became a popular and well respected Speech Language Pathologist who practiced throughout Cumberland County for over 60 years. Leon worked at Newcomb Hospital (Inspira Health Network), where he provided early intervention services and for the Shirley Eves Center. He was superintendent of the American Institute for Mental Studies and he also had a private practice in Vineland. Leon served as president of the New Jersey Speech and Hearing Association and he also served on the Board of Directors for Beth Israel Synagogue for over 25 years. He was a member of the Beth Israel Congregation Men's Club, The Brownsville Boys Club, The Mason Grand Lodge and he proudly portrayed Santa Claus for the Tiny Tim Fund and the Early Intervention holiday parties. Leon was the loving husband of Marcia Glovsky and father of Brad Glovsky (Debby), Cindy Glovsky, and Tammy Glovsky-Ortega (Bobby). He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Jeffrey & Daniel Glovsky, Kayla Brower, Nicole Ortega and Eve & Marlie Chiarello. Leon was predeceased by his parents, Barney & Sarah (Ajon) Glovsky, and his sisters, Shirley Wallach & Beverly Friedman. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, October 30 at Beth Israel Congregation, 1015 East Park Avenue, Vineland, NJ. Friends will be received at 10 am, Burial will follow in Alliance Cemetery, Norma, NJ.
