Obituary of Rudolph A. Rossi

Rudolph "Rudy" Rossi Sr., 89, passed January 28, 2015, at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. He attended Vineland HIgh School but left school to join the US Navy where he served for four years earning an Honorable Discharge. He was awarded his high school diploma later in life in honor of his service to his country. Rudy belonged to DESA (Destroyer Escort Sailors Association) where he and his wife Alice attended many reunions over the years across the country. In 1964 he started the Rossi Tile Company for over 40 years along with his sons and grandchildren. He coached Little League Baseball in Buena Borough, served in the Recreation Commission in Buena, was a member of the American Legion Post #270 in Minotola where he served as Adjudant and Service Officer for over 35 years. He was co-founder and member of the Greater Vineland Baseball Hall of Fame. Rudy played baseball in Vineland and Buena. He pitched for Melini Goodyear and the Vineland Lumberjacks and played softball in Buena for the American Legion. Rudy was named "Man of the Year" of Buena Borough in 2011. He enjoyed golf, baseball,softball, fishing, gardening, going to the casinos, traveling often, and his retirement. But his biggest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed outings with Marcello Franzoi and lunch with the boys from the Vineland Baseball Hall of Fame group.
