Obituary of Donald MacAvoy Sr

Donald Lee MacAvoy Sr., 74, of Vineland passed away on Wednesday, Aril 22, 2015 at The Thomas Jefferson University Hospital after a brief illness. He was born to the late Elwood and Nellie MacAvoy. Donald graduated from Millville High School and then went on to apprentice school to become a Machinist. He was employed by Nipro Glass Americas in Millville. Donald was a member of the Vineland Moose Hall and also a member of The Umpire Association. He was an umpire for various leagues throughout Vineland for many years. Donald was an avid Philadelphia sports fan; he enjoyed yard sales and flea markets. Donald was a classic car enthusiast and the proud owner of a 1960 Corvette. He and his wife loved spending time attending car shows in Philadelphia and Atlantic City and also watching them on television. Donald's greatest joy was spending time with his family and his little yorkie "Daisy". He is survived by his wife of 35 years, LuAnn (Benner) MacAvoy; sons, Donald Lee MacAvoy Jr; Kevin Lance MacAvoy and his daughter, Zoe Lee MacAvoy; grandchildren, Donald Lee MacAvoy III, Sarah Michelle MacAvoy, Lauren Frances MacAvoy and Devin Lance MacAvoy; great-grandchild, Aiden Joseph Brett; brother & sister-in-law, John "Bud" and Jeanette MacAvoy; several nieces & nephews, sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Elwood B. & Nellie G. (Jerrell) MacAvoy; brother, Elwood "James" MacAvoy and his sister, Margaret "Peggy" Calhoun. Funeral Home Visitations will be held on Sunday evening from 6pm to 8pm and again on Monday morning from 8:30am to 9:30am at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10am from Christ The Good Shepherd Parish - Church Of Sacred Heart, 1010 East Landis Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
