Obituary of Henry J. Frank

Dr. Henry J. Frank passed away March, 11, 2012. He was born in Landau, Germany in 1921 and immigrated to the United States in 1940, taking residence in Vineland. Dr. Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1943-46 at Camp Drum in upstate New York, where he supervised German prisoners of war. Subsequent to military service, Dr. Frank graduated from Brooklyn College and the Illinois College of Optometry, where he was a clinical professor until 1950. Dr. Frank and his wife of 51 years, Lee Anne (nee Rosenfeld; deceased 2001) moved back to Vineland in 1951, where he continued his optometric career until 2011. Dr. Frank was active on the boards of Beth Israel Synagogue, the Kiwanis Club, and the Vineland YMCA. He employed and mentored several Vineland High School graduates as office staff. He was also a member of the Vineland Bridge Club and the Jewish War Veterans. He is survived by two sons; Dr. Eugene Frank, who has carried on his father's practice in Vineland and resides in the Medford area, Eugene's wife Jane, who practices social work in Marlton, NJ., Dr. Howard Frank, a professor of Public Administration at Florida International University in Miami, and three granddaughters; Janelle and Gabrielle Frank, who reside in New York, and Julia, who lives in West Chester, PA. Dr. Frank will be interred at Alliance Cemetery, Norma, NJ, on Tuesday, March 13 at 11 AM. Donations may be made in his memory to Sons of Jacob Congregation, 321 W. Grape St., Vineland, NJ, 08360.
